Wally transforms how you interact with WordPress. Instead of clicking through menus, searching for settings, and memorizing where things live — you just ask. This guide walks you through everything: installation, first-time setup, and how to get the most out of your AI-powered assistant from day one.
1. Installation
Getting Wally onto your WordPress site takes less than two minutes. Head to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Plugins → Add New, and search for "Wally". Click Install Now, then Activate.
Alternatively, if you have a .zip file from the Wally Pro download, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, select the file, and activate it.
Pro tip: Make sure your WordPress version is 6.0 or higher and PHP 8.0+ is running on your server. Wally uses modern APIs that require these minimum versions.
2. Initial Configuration
After activation, you'll see the Wally icon appear in your admin sidebar. Click it to open the chat panel for the first time. You'll be guided through a quick setup wizard that takes about 30 seconds:
Connect your license key — paste the key from your Wally account dashboard. Free users get a key too.
Choose your AI model — select between Claude or GPT depending on your preference and plan.
Site scan runs automatically — Wally scans your site to understand your theme, plugins, and content structure.
3. Your First Conversation
Once setup is complete, you're ready to start chatting. Wally understands natural language, so just type what you need. Here are some great first commands to try:
"Update the homepage title to Welcome to Our Store""Install and activate the WooCommerce plugin""Create a new draft blog post about summer sales"Wally will confirm what it understood, show you exactly what it's about to do, and ask for your approval before making any changes. For destructive actions like deleting posts or deactivating plugins, you'll always get a confirmation dialog first.

4. What's Next
You've installed Wally, connected your license, and had your first conversation. From here, the possibilities expand rapidly. You can manage plugins, edit posts, update settings, handle media — all through natural language.
Wally learns your site's structure over time through daily scans, so the more you use it, the more context-aware it becomes. And with the Pro plan, you unlock advanced features like bulk operations, scheduled tasks, and priority AI models.
